Black Hibiscus Haiku

Black Hibiscus

By Kathy Bareno

When I smell the tea
I close my eyes, remember
Morning mist and sea

Vibrant tropical rose
Brightens the earthy layers
Steeped in tranquil dreams

Slow clouds, cool grey skies
Ocean breeze, salt in the air
Bright ruby petals

Swirl in my warm cup
Imagining toes on damp sand
Early morning sea

“Black Hibiscus tea reminds me of early morning surfing before the marine layer breaks.” – KB
